Volunteering brings benefits to the museum and the volunteer. The support of volunteers enables the Villa Alba Museum to successfully run open days, special events, defined projects, and to reach out to the community.
Open Days involve the house and garden being open from 1-4 pm on the first Sunday of each month. Museum volunteers welcome visitors and share stories with them on the history of the house and its decoration. Prospective volunteers are not expected to be historians or decorative arts experts but we are keen that you share your enthusiasm for the house with others.
The Villa Alba Museum maintains its own event programs and also provides a venue for events organised by other groups, for which a hire charge is paid. Events might include performances, tours, lectures and social events. The amount of time required and the type of help needed varies depending on the nature and location of each event.
There are a number of opportunities for project volunteers in specialist areas such as exhibitions, research, administration, and gardening. Usually these are short-term projects, although they may be extended by mutual agreement. The level of skill required will depend on the project.
Speaker Program Volunteers
The Museum seeks to reach out to the community to promote its goals and purpose, as well as to raise awareness of special projects such as exhibitions. These roles require volunteers who are confident public speakers and communicators.
